While I’m putting my dog in the car, this man comes up to me. He’s wearing a backpack and a fannypack. That’s two too many packs, if you ask me. He says, “How’s the energy today?’
“Excuse me?” I said.
“What’s the energy like in the dog park today?” he said again.
I have no idea what he’s asking or implying so I do what I usually do in these situations. I improvise. “It’s good. Not a lot of people out there. Everyone is keeping to themselves.”
“Oh good”, he says, “Sometimes people get so aggressive. They don’t discipline their dogs.”
“Yeah, that’s probably because so many different people come here”, I said, having no idea what this even means. Of course a lot of different people come to the dog park.
“Oh, that’s a good point. I never thought about that” he replied.
And we both left super confused by this conversation.
